  • No telemetry: LocalGPT does not send any usage data, analytics, or telemetry to our servers.
  • No conversation data: Your chats, prompts, generated images, audio, and video stay entirely on your device.
  • No account required: You can use LocalGPT without creating an account.
  • API keys: If you connect cloud AI providers, your API keys are stored locally on your device and are never sent to LocalGPT servers.

3. Local AI Processing

When you use local models (e.g., Llama, Mistral, Stable Diffusion, Whisper), all processing happens entirely on your machine. No data leaves your device. Your files, conversations, and generated content are never uploaded.

4. Cloud AI Providers

When you choose to use cloud AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), your prompts and data are sent directly from your device to the provider using your own API key. LocalGPT acts as a client — we do not proxy, store, or log any of this data. Please review each provider's privacy policy for their data handling practices.

5. Website Data

This website (localgpt.io) does not use cookies for tracking. We may use basic analytics to understand page visits, but no personally identifiable information is collected.

6. File Indexing & RAG

When you use the file indexing feature, your documents are processed and indexed locally on your device. Vector embeddings are stored in a local database. No file content is transmitted externally unless you explicitly choose a cloud embedding model.

7. Updates & Downloads

LocalGPT may check for updates by connecting to our servers or GitHub. This request contains only your current version number and operating system — no personal data.

8. Children's Privacy

LocalGPT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of LocalGPT constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
